The Main marketing advantage of this packaging is that can be retailed much easier, since it can be preserved for 10 -13 days (depending the species and processing) in any refrigerator (with temperature 0-4 c) without the use of any conservatives . This fact wider the customer base of a wholesaler since any retailer can now sell, fresh and easy to purchase & use fish products, without the need of having an exposure ice-bench with specialized personnel.

Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP)

Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) is a technique used for prolonging the shelf-life period of fresh or minimally processed foods. In this preservation technique the air surrounding the food in the package is changed to another composition. This way the initial fresh state of the product may be prolonged. It is the shelf-life of fish that will be prolonged with MAP since it slows the natural deterioration of the product. MAP is used with various types of products, where the mixture of gases In the package depends on the type of product, packaging materials and storage temperature.

Gas types

The modification process often tries to lower the amount of oxygen (O2), moving it from 20% to 0%, In order to slow down the growth of aerobic life forms and the speed of oxidation reactions. The removed oxygen can be replaced with nitrogen (N2), commonly acknowledged as an inert gas, or carbon dioxide (CO2), which can lower the pH or inhibit the growth of bacteria.

Proportions are directly depending on each fish type and are a result of companies specific scientific research.

Wrapping

We use a new generation antifog film for overwrapping the fresh fish, consumer goods.

TRAYS SPECIFICATION

Styroplate

One material single layer extruded expanded polysteryne foam tray. CFC free & Fully recyclable. Furthermore the inner layer of the tray is perforated for absorbing extra humidity.

Plastic

Specially designed for fresh food. Offers ideal appearance in combination with its antifog cover film. Oval designed to compensate for residual film shrink tension without visual distortion.
